15. The Aleksandar Mitrovic Saga Has Affected Papiss Cisse

Papiss Cisse started off pre-season like a man possessed. His performances against both Gateshead and Club Atlas were those of a man who had received one monumental kick up the back-side as he didn't stop running in either match. The 30-year-old seemed to have completely reformed his game compared to what we have seen over the last three-and-a-half years as Steve McClaren had obviously told his striker that he wanted to see him much more involved with build up play. The Senegalese international duly obliged. And then some... However, his last two displays have been timid to say the least. The striker's endeavour has simply dried up which has caused him to go missing in action somewhat. Is it a coincidence that Cisse's poor performances, and noticeable drop in form have come about since United's move for Aleksandar Mitrovic was thrust right into the public's consciousness? Maybe. However, there have been rumours all summer long that the club want to sell their 11-goal hero from last season, rumours that will only intensify if the club do actually push on with their heavily reported pursuit of Charlie Austin from Queens Park Rangers.
