12. United's Luck Finally Ran Out
The walk in the park at Gateshead aside, Newcastle United's goal has led a pretty charmed life this pre-season. Even though they found themselves two-down against Club Atlas early on, the score-line could have easily reached five or six in the home side's favour by half time. While the same could have happened in the Sacramento fixture if it wasn't for a resurgent Tim Krul and an expectation-defying Freddie Woodman. So finally Newcastle's back-line finally received what has been threatening to come their way for over 180 minutes of football as they shipped four goals against an MLS reserve team... Yes the defence was makeshift for Wednesday's game, but it has been a recurring threat for the entirety of the American tour. Slightly worrying signs ahead of the new season to say the least...
