Wenger's notorious blind spot has come back to bite him more times than not and Squillaci is another to add to the list of useless defenders that have made their way through Highbury and the Emirates. Signed from Sevilla in 2010 for a fee of £4million, Squillaci put in consistently poor performances and despite claiming to be a central defender, he seemed unable to head the ball or tackle with any degree of timing. His jittery performances contributed to an awful Arsenal defence during this time and during one away defeat to Sunderland, he and Johan Djourou were run ragged by Stephane Sessegnon on a torrid afternoon. It was no surprise when he was released along with Andrei Arshavin and Denilson at the end of 2012/13 season and in fact the only real surprise if the Frenchman lasted so long.
