15 Worst Ever Arsenal Premier League Signings

2. Francis Jeffers

Ah, the famous Fox in the Box. Jeffers scored 20 goals in 80 matches to attract the interest of the Arsenal manager who signed the English striker for £8 million in 2001. Upon his arrival Wenger stated that he had finally found the fox in the box to finish off Arsenal's intricate moves but Jeffers failed to live up to this tag. His time at Arsenal was ruined by injury and when he did play, he seemed to be out of his depth. He left the Gunners with a very poor record of four Premier League goals in 20 appearances and sadly for Jeffers, it was all down hill from there. He became something of a nomad, returning to Everton on loan before being sold to Charlton Atheltic for £2.6 million. He then went on to play for numerous clubs including Rangers (loan), Blackburn Rovers, Newcastle Jets in Australia and he finished his career at Accrington Stanley. Unfortunately for Jeffers, he never recaptured his goalscoring form from his first spell at the Toffees and his failure at Arsenal may be part of the reason Wenger was so reluctant to spend big money.
