15 Worst Ever Arsenal Premier League Signings

1. Andre Santos

Who else would be number one? Andre Santos is the single worst player to have come through Arsenal in the Premier League era. Signed as one of four deadline day signings in 2011, Santos was a Brazilian international left back who had earned rave reviews at Turkish side Fenerbahce. Defending never seemed to be of particular enjoyment to Santos and he often decided to simply not do it at all. He would be caught upfield, having been robbed of the ball and as everyone else sprinted back to try and recover there he would be, casually jogging back over the half way line. He had some good moments but they were few and far between. The final straw for most Arsenal fans came during a dismal defeat to Manchester United when Santos asked former Arsenal favourite Robin van Persie to swap shirts at half-time. This came as Arsenal were 1-0 down (on their way to a 2-1 defeat) with van Persie had scoring the opener. He apologised to his team mates and the fans after a dressing down from Wenger but he never recovered from that match. Santos was initially loaned back to Brazil with Gremio before Flamengo signed him at the end of his Arsenal contract. He played for FC Goa in the Indian Super League before moving back to Brazil again with Figueirense, his first professional club.
