15 Worst Ever Premier League Signings

1. Andy Carroll

From: Newcastle United To: Liverpool Fee: £35 million (Source: The Sun) Andy Carroll. The most expensive English footballer of all time. Liverpool's most expensive signing in the club's history. It sounds ridiculous when you say it doesn't it? Last summer's deadline day, not only saw the horrendous £50 million Torres transfer to Chelsea, but also featured as it's supporting act, the Liverpool landing Newcastle€™s Andy Carroll for £35m. 33 goals in just under 100 games for the Magpies, isn't exactly a goalscoring record to brag about, however Liverpool saw some non-existant talent in the lanky jordie and decided to break all the records to sign him. Even Liverpool fans were quick to realize the sheer wastage of money that went into Carroll's transfer and it has come as no shock them that Carroll has not been able to produced the goods at Anfield. He has scored just 6 goals in 44 appearances for Liverpool so far, and I think Kenny Dalglish realised he'd made the gaffe of all gaffes, and he quickly shipped Carroll out on loan to West Ham. Andy Carroll as it stands, is the eighth most expensive footballer of all-time. He is right up there with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Zinedine Zidane and David Beckham. (In terms of price, not in terms of performance or talent for that matter.) So that's why Andy Carroll is in my opinion, the worst ever signing in Premier League history.
