15 Worst Ever Premier League Signings

13. David Bentley

From: Blackburn Rovers To: Spurs Fee: £15 million (Source: BBC) Believe it or not, but earlier on his career, the now long forgotten David Bentley, was dubbed as the next David Beckham. At his early clubs, namely Arsenal and Blackburn, he exhibited unquestionable star potential as England's new brightest prodigy, and he did look vaguely comparable to the iconic megastar. So you would argue, no wonder Tottenham smashed their transfer record to secure this gifted playmaker from Blackburn for £15 million back in 2008. However since his transfer to Spurs in 2008 he has shown no signs of being the next Beckham whatsoever, and at present, that £15 million price tag looks like a monumental waste of money for Tottenham. Following some poor early performances, Bentley was swiftly dropped to the reserves bench and for the most part, despite still being contracted to the North London Club, he hasn't been seen since. In fact he hasn't made a single Premier League appearance with Tottenham for two years. Yes, he is still technically a Tottenham player - he may well be on loan at the unknown FC Rostov, but he remains a Spurs player. Whether Andre Villas Boas knows this, or if he has ever heard of David Bentley, I cannot confirm. In his four years at Tottenham up to this point, he has only made 42 appearances and he has only scored 3 goals in the process and something tells me, those statistics aren't going to change anytime soon......
