16 Newcastle Players You Won't Believe Are Seasoned Internationals

7. Shefki Kuqi - 62 Finland Caps

Newcastle United: 2011 Position: Forward Nationality: Finnish Premier League Appearances: 6 Premier League Goals: 0 International Caps (Goals): 62 (8) One of the most-bizarre signings in the history of Newcastle United Football Club, Kuqi was released by Swansea City in January 2011 - and then snapped up on a free transfer just weeks later by Alan Pardew's Newcastle United. He made just six Premier League appearances - without scoring - before he was released in May 2011 and made little-to-no lasting impression on the Toon faithful. Many Newcastle fans are still scratching their heads, wondering why Kuqi was ever signed in the first place seeing as he didn't exactly rattle the goals in during his "prime" at Sheffield Wednesday, Ipswich Town and Crystal Palace... Incredibly, Albanian-born Kuqi made 62 appearances for Finland, scoring eight goals.
