16 Newcastle Players You Won't Believe Are Seasoned Internationals

=7 Ronny Johnsen - 62 Norway Caps

Newcastle United: 2004-05 Position: Centre-Back/Defensive-Midfielder Nationality: Norwegian Premier League Appearances: 3 Premier League Goals: 0 International Caps (Goals): 62 (3) While at Manchester United, Johnsen claimed four Premier League titles, the FA Cup, the FA Charity Shield, the Intercontinental Cup and, of course, the UEFA Champions League - yet the defender made just three league appearances during his brief spell on Tyneside. Signed on a free transfer from Aston Villa in the summer of 2004, Johnsen was struck down by a series of injury problems during the entirety of his stay at St James' Park - and retired in February 2005 after failing to fully recover his fitness. Five appearances and no goals for the 62-cap Norway defender prove that things didn't go well for Johnsen at Newcastle, but he came out of retirement just months later to join Norwegian side Valarenga. Undoubtedly a class centre-back in his day yet Newcastle decided to sign Johnsen up even though he could barely run by 2004. It certainly wasn't for his Magpies form that he was capped 62 times, that's for sure...
