When Chelsea met Demba Ba's £7 million buyout clause in January 2013, the Senegalese forward left Tyneside for north London - leaving behind his good friend Cabaye. While Ba went on to compete for trophies while at Stamford Bridge, Cabaye struggled to keep Newcastle in the Premier League - something they only just managed - and the Frenchman could only watch his friend succeed from a distance. No doubt enviously, too.
