16 Reasons Why Newcastle Have Gone From Mid-Table Mediocrity To Relegation Fodder

9. Tim Krul's Loss Of Form

Although Newcastle's inept back four (in whatever combination it may be) must take a large portion of the blame for the club's inability to stop conceding goals - honourable mentions must be made to Fabricio Coloccini, Mike Williamson, Ryan Taylor (for when he's played at full-back), and recently even Daryl Janmaat, for their woeful defending - Tim Krul has also been in hopeless form. Krul has failed to keep a clean sheet since Newcastle's 1-0 victory over Aston Villa on February 28th, and he has managed just two since John Carver took charge. The Dutchman was at fault for goals in the losses to Tottenham Hotspur, Swansea City, Queens Park Rangers and on other occasions as well - and that has hurt Newcastle badly. Krul is in the worst form of his career, and he looks a shadow of his former self.
