16 Things Newcastle Fans Need To Know About Georginio Wijnaldum
4. He Was Given His First-Team Debut By Koeman... But Not Ronald
Wijnaldum made his Feyenoord debut under Dutch legend Koeman - but it was not Southampton boss Ronald. It was instead his brother, Erwin, who was Feyenoord boss between 2005 and 2007. Interestingly, Erwin Koeman is his brother's assistant at the Saints - and he even warned Wijnaldum against moving to Tyneside, although he praised Newcastle as a "big club". Koeman told NIS:
"I doubt because Newcastle is a big club, weekly sit 55,000 people in the stands. But, as far as I can judge from the outside, it comes as structurally wrong lately. "They have good players - just often problems with coaches being fired. "(Wijnaldum is) a player with an added value. He should just keep in mind that the game is much faster and is a lot more physical (in England)."
