8. There's Still A Good Goalkeeper In Tim Krul
The stopper celebrated his 10-year anniversary at Newcastle with a performance that was sure to silence a few of the doubters. There's still some life in the Dutchman yet. Despite having his poorest season as Newcastle's No 1 last term, Krul bounced back in Sacramento as he kept the home side at bay. Whenever he was called upon he did what was required, parrying a number of shots clear of his goal as well as overseeing a vast improvement of his much-maligned kicking. One save in particular caught the eye as he was sent sprawling full stretch to his left from a Republic free-kick. Something to build on. Shoots of hope from the 27-year-old on Sunday morning.
