20 Best Premier League Goals of 2012

8. Fraizer Campbell (SUNDERLAND 3-0 Norwich)

http://youtu.be/QOvmxhdcMng Another top class strike from a Sunderland player was provided in February by Fraizer Campbell, a player who experienced his fair share of injury woe in his career. Campbell has quite a degree of potential, and this was clearly demonstrated with his goal against Norwich, where he flicked the ball into the air, but still under complete control, before immediately volleying the ball into the goal. The amount of dip on the effort looped the ball over the head of the despairing John Ruddy, and was merely an example of why Campbell could be the lynchpin of Sunderland's climb away from danger.

7. Luka Modric (Bolton 1-4 TOTTENHAM)

http://youtu.be/OqaV-L0_RSQ Though he has left for the glittering lights of the Bernabeu, Luka Modric provided quite a great deal for Tottenham during his time there. His light passing and seemless control would often split defences in two and offer chances for the likes of Jermain Defoe and Gareth Bale. However, against Bolton he was able to take the spotlight. Although the game itself is best remembered for the return of Fabrice Muamba after his cardiac arrest, Modric took his chance to share some of the spotlight. Controlling the ball from a short Spurs corner, Modric lined up a shot from nearly 30 yards and struck past the goalkeeper. Goals like this proved to take their toll on the recently relegated Bolton, and earnt Modric his big-money move to (outgoing) Spanish champions Real Madrid.

6. Adel Taarabt (QPR 2-1 Fulham)

http://youtu.be/qVT8lzP3GEU There were calls for optimism at QPR when Harry Redknapp replaced Mark Hughes as manager, despite the supposed bleakness of their situation. Without a victory in the whole of the 2012/13 season, the club were in desperate need of a three points against Fulham, and as so often before they turned to Adel Taarabt. The infleuntial midfielder had already provided the first goal with a deflected strike, but it was his second that really caught the eye. Running at the Fulham defence with deliberate skill and slid the ball with the outside of his foot into the corner of the goal. A brilliant individual effort which has become Taarabt's trademark, and will be very much appreciated if QPR are to end 2013 in the Premier League.

5. Sebastian Coates (QPR 3-2 LIVERPOOL)

http://youtu.be/9rlEg_GOyiA A goal that proved inconsequential in terms of the result, but still produced a moment of great entertainment, was scored by the burgeoning central defender Sebastian Coates. Displaying some of the South American flair that seems to flow throughout every position, Coates took advantage of some confusion in the penalty box following a corner. Leaping like a salmon into the air, Coates showed some aerial acrobatics to scissor kick the ball with immense power into the goal. A goal that would be impressive by the standards of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, Coates will hope that he will have better luck at keeping goals away from his own goal than was displayed in this game if he wants to become as great an Anfield defender as Jamie Carragher and Sami Hyypia.
