Following spells at the likes of AC Milan and Monaco, Mark Hateley let the ink dry on a contract with Glasgow Rangers in 1990, but he wouldn't really hit the ground running. The Englishman had been lethal in both Italy and France, but it'd take him a while to become accustomed to the more frenetic pace of Scottish football and the British game in general once more. Once he did, there was no looking back, and the strapping big striker became one of the first names on the team sheet right up until he left the club in 1995. Forming an incredible partnership with Ally McCoist for several years, Hateley was the kind of player who could score every type of goal - not only was he a deadly finisher, but he could rise like an eagle to head home powerfully. Perfectly fitting into the Rangers mentality, Mark Hateley realised just how big an institution the club was during his time at Ibrox, and always appeared composed and respectful during interviews towards the history of the team. A second short run in 1997 only yielded one goal, but it tacked on nicely to the 87 strikes the man achieved during his first spell.
