20 Most Important Players In The Premier League 2014/15
3. Christian Eriksen
From the vast re-investment of Gareth Bale's transfer fee last summer, only a couple of purchases proved their worth for Spurs last season. During his time at the Amsterdam ArenA, Eriksen racked up over 150 appearances, becoming instrumental in midfield in the process despite his tender age - he promises to be similarly integral at White Hart Lane. A year on and Eriksen has seven goals under his belt for Spurs and another full pre-season to gel with his teammates and settle in further. Though Tim Sherwood held the Dane in high regard, Mauricio Pocchetino's high pressing system looks to reward the 22-year-old with the chance to gain possession in more advanced areas to continue to pick apart opposition defences. Erik Lamela and Roberto Soldado stuttered in the early stages of their Spurs careers, but with Eriksen aiding their cause, both forwards could kick into gear. Pre-season has given both the opportunity to prove their worth, with the Spanish-speaking duo combining well at times, especially during the win against Toronto FC. While Soldado and Lamela could act, in clichéd fashion, like new signings, neither will be able to flourish with the service of the talented Denmark international.
