Anelka is one of the most widely-travelled players in the Premier League, playing for six clubs in the top flight of English football and proving himself a useful striker in the process. Until 2013, his most controversial incident came when he was sent home from the 2010 World Cup for abusing French manager Raymond Domenech. While playing for West Brom in the 2013/14 season, he celebrated his first goal for the club by performing a "quenelle" arm gesture, a highly controversial symbol regarded as anti-Semitic in France. He was fined £80,000 and given a five match ban.
