Throughout their illustrious history, Rangers have won the Scottish League Cup a stunning 27 times, which is a record in Scottish football. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the next biggest challengers are Celtic, who have bagged the trophy on 15 different occasions, most recently by defeating Dundee United in 2015. Simple mathematics states a difference of 12 cup wins between Rangers and Celtic, which shows just how prolific the blues have been in the competition over the years. Rangers most recent League Cup success came in 2011, where the team fought off a big challenge from Celtic to win 2-1 after extra time. Since then, the Ibrox outfit haven't really come close, but years of financial struggle and insecurity over the future of the club has derailed any momentum built over the many years before. Rangers were the first team to lift the trophy in 1947, beating Aberdeen 4-0 in front of 82,700 in attendance. There seems to be a lure for Rangers and the domestic cup competition, and fans would dearly love them to win it again.
