20 Worst Squads In FIFA World Cup History
6. North Korea (2010)
North Korea were an unexpected new addition to the World Cup finals in 2010. North Korea qualified from the Asian groups alongside South Korea and Japan after pinching the final qualifying spot from Saudi Arabia on goal difference.
North Korea were drawn into Group G alongside formidable names such as Brazil, Portugal and Ivory Coast. Amazingly, North Korea only lost 1-2 to Brazil in their opening match, but it was all downhill from there. Their second game saw them take the biggest World Cup defeat of the decade courtesy of Portugal, who smashed them 0-7. North Korea exited the tournament after their third and final match also resulted in a loss, this time a 0-3 result against Ivory Coast.
North Korea have not qualified for the World Cup since and following their -11 goal difference from their only showing, it seems it may be a long time before they return.
