2019–20 UEFA Champions League Best XI
2. Erling Haaland - RB Salzburg / Borussia Dortmund
Given the breaks and just how long the 2019/20 season has felt, it's important to remember that Erling Haaland began his campaign as an unknown quantity plying his trade with Red Bull Salzburg. He scored his fourth hattrick for Salzburg on his Champions League debut against Genk, became only the second ever teenager to score in his first three European games with goals against Napoli and Liverpool and then only the fifth player in history to score five in five with another goal against Napoli.
Fighting off interest from seemingly every club in Europe, Borussia Dortmund sealed Haaland's signature for the remainder of the 2019/20 Champions League campaign in January. He once again scored a brace in his European debut for the club against PSG, taking his tally to ten in just eight games.
His pace, power and height makes him almost unplayable at times, and his 53% goal conversion rate and mins per goal ratio of just 55 minutes were the best of any player in the competition. Whether it be with Dortmund or any other club lucky enough to land him in their ranks, Erling Haaland will be making plenty more top European elevens before his career is done.
