2019–20 UEFA Champions League Best XI

3. Neymar - PSG

The world's most expensive footballer has divided critics since his transfer from Barcelona to PSG in 2017, but things look like they might have finally turned for Neymar on the back of his Champions League performances.

His skills and energetic pace have always wowed the footballing community, but its the attitude Neymar conveyed during PSG's run to the final was what really helped him stand out from the crowd and pull the Parisians through some of their stickier moments. Long gone were the theatrical antics, the offield distractions and constant injury woes that had plagued his early time in France, the Brazilian looked every inch a leader on the pitch and was able to put in some of the most mature performances of his career.

Three goals, four assists and an average of 2.3 key passes per ninety from Neymar's seven Champions League appearances made him PSG's most potent attacking force during the competition, and his improved demeanour on the pitch was vital to the side breaking their knockout round jinx and push their way to the final.

Though he might not have had the performance in the final itself that he or PSG might have hoped for, it shouldn't take away from just how crucial Neymar was to the team's efforts during the campaign.
