25 Players Who Stole A Living From Rangers

21. Dorin Goian

Generally speaking, Glasgow Rangers should avoid signing players who made a name for themselves playing for Steaua Bucharest, but at least Dorin Goian would play 35 times for the then-Scottish champions upon putting pen to paper on a deal in 2011. Unfortunately, a lot of the time the big Romanian looked off the pace, struggling with the speed and frenetic nature of the Scottish game. Maybe a lot of this difficulty can be attributed to his 2 years spent playing in Serie A with Palermo, but the big central defender never really looked comfortable. Admittedly, his distribution from defence was usually solid, but once an attacker turned Goian, forget about it, he wasn't catching a cold, nevermind that opposing player. As Rangers wallowed in administration and eventual liquidation, the defender seemed like he couldn't wait to leave. Eventually, after a loan to Spezia in Serie B, the player was released by Rangers, but not before receiving a bumper pay out. This kind of attitude did little to endear him to the Ibrox faithful, which should come as no surprise, he was only there for the money.
