25 Worst Premier League Signings Ever
21. Roberto Soldado

Suddenly flush with £85m after the world-record sale of Gareth Bale to Real Madrid in 2013, Spurs suddenly had enough money to buy whoever they wanted to replace the Welsh forward. The £26m fee for Valencia striker Soldado looked like a steal for Daniel Levy's club, given that the forward had been lighting up La Liga in the previous season for his hometown club, and he started out promisingly enough, with four goals in his first three games, a hopeful sign of things to come for the Spurs fans so desperate to taste success again.
The high soon wore off a few weeks into the season however, and Spurs suddenly found themselves with a striker who seemingly didn't know how to score goals. In his two seasons at White Hart Lane, Soldado only managed seven league goals in fifty-two appearances; four of those goals coming from penalty kicks.
With the forward low on confidence, he was transferred back to Spain and Spurs took a gamble on a young English academy graduate named Harry Kane to lead their line.
The rest, they say, is history.
