25 Worst Premier League Signings Ever

20. Andriy Shevchenko

A classic example of why owners should never interfere with the transfer policy at their club, Shevchenko was admittedly one of the finest strikers in the world at the time of his transfer to Stamford Bridge. Having established himself in the magnificent Dynamo Kiev side of the mid to late nineties, and the all-conquering Milan side of the early 2000's, Shevchenko was presented to then-Chelsea manager José Mourinho as the ultimate gift that would propel his side into the stratosphere.

The problem was that Shevchenko was clearly past his best, and unable to keep up with the pace of the English game. The odd bright spark shone during his time, such as a wonderful goal against Spurs in the FA Cup, but by and large he disappointed in his two year stay in London, and never lived up to his £30m price tag.
