5 Arsenal Youngsters To Look Out For Next Season

3. Joel Campbell

The Costa Rican forward gave Arsenal fans a reminder of his talents in Olympiakos€™ Champions League last 16 match with Manchester United this season. Campbell scored the second goal as the Greek champions beat united 2-0 in the first leg of the tie, knocking the ball past Michael Carrick before curling his effort into the bottom corner from 30 yards. The goal was a glimpse of the talent Campbell had promised at youth level. For Costa Rica's Under-21s he was prolific, scoring 10 goals in 13 games. He also finished top scorer in the 2011 CONCACAF Under-20 Championship, netting six goals as Costa Rica finished runners-up to Mexico. Campbell€™s potential saw the Gunners sign him in August 2011, beating off Manchester United for the 21-year-old€™s signature. Having failed to gain a work permit, he was set on loan to Lorient and then Real Betis for a season each, with his performances for the La Liga side catching the eye of clubs around Europe. After gaining a work permit in 2013, Campbell was again sent on loan, this time to Greek side Olympiakos. The forward has had a good season in Greece, scoring nine goals while often being deployed out wide. After three years on loan, it is decision time for Campbell and Arsenal. Either he makes the jump to the first team or leaves the club, with West Brom interested. Given his pace and finishing, Campbell is surely worth a try in the first team. At just 21-years-old he could grow into a formidable talent.
