When Arsenal signed Thomas Eisfeld back in 2012, fans of the club were hoping that Arsenal were going to land another Borussia Dortmund player - Mario Gotze. However, following a compensation package of £475,000, the Gunners signed Eisfeld, with Wenger delighted to secure a young talent with potential. Since then, the Germans career has somewhat plateaued at Arsenal, with first team appearances a rarity. Indeed, the 21-year-old is still to make his Premier League debut for the club, only appearing in the Capital One Cup so far. Eisfeld has impressed at youth level however, establishing himself as an integral part of the Under-21 side. Mesut Ozil has also spoken out about how impressed he is with his fellow countryman, praising him and Serge Gnabry for their technical ability. As a player, Eisfelds preferred role is as an attacking midfielder. As Ozil claims, his first touch and technique are very good, while Wenger has also compared the youngster to former Arsenal great, Robert Pires. At 21 years of age, now is the time for Eisfeld to fulfil his potential and make his mark on the first team.
