5 Deadline Day Football Transfers That Could Happen
Five major moves that are still on the table ahead of the transfer window slamming shut on Thursday.
Ahead of the 2019/20 Premier League season kicking off this weekend, first and foremost is the small matter of the transfer window.
With the UK transfer window set to slam shut - because when doesn't a transfer window slam shut? - at 5pm this Thursday, August 8th, time is ticking as clubs look to bring in new additions to their squads.
Already, there have been some huge moves in this window - Harry Maguire to Manchester United, Rodri to Manchester City, Moise Kean to Everton - but there could well still be some major business to be done before that Thursday deadline.
As is always the case, there's the prospect of a domino effect playing out once any big moves do indeed go through, and that's all part of the fun of the transfer window as we see teams frantically looking to fill their weak spots. On the flip side of that, of course, is the disappointment of a team not landing their key targets.
With that in mind, then, here are five legitimately massive transfers that could still happened before all is said and done in this transfer window.
5. Paulo Dybala To Spurs
Spurs fans are in for an exciting end to the transfer window, as Mauricio Pochettino casts his eyes over several fascinating potential signings.
One such player that the Tottenham boss is keen on, is Juventus' Paulo Dybala.
Reports from Italy claim that Spurs have already put in a €70 million bid for the Argentine forward, and these same reports claim that Poch actually called the player directly at some point over the past few days.
Of course, Dybala was in talks to move to Manchester United last week in a deal that would've seen Romelu Lukaku moving to Turin. That deal collapsed after the Red Devils were unsure on just how committed the former Palermo forward was about a move to Old Trafford.
From the outside, a move to Spurs is likely far more appealing that a transfer to United right now - largely down to the fact that the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium will be hosting Champions League football this season, as opposed to the Europa League taking up Thursdays at the Theatre of Dreams.
