1. Rory McIlroy
It had to be, didnt it? The World no.2, two-time Major winner has got himself back into form at exactly the right time. After seemingly struggling with his new Nike clubs, the Ulsterman finished runner-up in the Valero Texas Open on Sunday, having added the tournament to his schedule at late notice in an attempt to find form. One of the new breed of players who do not fear Woods, few can forget his final day Masters meltdown in 2011. However, McIlroy can take great confidence from his performance over the first three days that saw him lead the field by four shots. That he went and won the US Open in his next Major outing shows that the now 23-year-old has the mental fortitude to win his maiden green jacket. A good start will be key to silence the doubters and settle Rorys own mind, and destiny seems to point to a final day showdown between the world number 1 and 2, kitted out in the Nike swoosh, a battle that will live forever in the memories of all who see it.
