5 Greatest Ever Title-Winning Premier League Sides

4. Manchester United - 1992-94

United supporters had had to sit through the 1970s and 1980s watching bitter rivals Liverpool dominate English football, but as the first season Premier League got underway, many felt Ferguson's side were at the beginning of a glorious new era. They weren't wrong. With Peter Schmeichel in goal- the Dane was probably the best goalkeeper on the planet at the time- Steve Bruce and Gary Pallister at the back, Giggs, Paul Ince and Andrei Kanchelskis in midfield and Mark Hughes in attack they were extremely strong. The signing of a certain Eric Cantona in December 1992 was the icing on the cake. Despite losing their first two league games, United were right in contention all season long, along with Norwich City and Aston Villa. A 3-1 win at Carrow Road in April 1993, in which they were 3-1 up after just 21 minutes, was a huge victory, while their Bruce-inspired win over Sheffield Wednesday five days later will forever go down in legend. They ended up winning the title by 10 points. In 1993/94 they repeated their heroics of the previous year, finishing eight points clear of an emerging Blackburn Rovers side. They also won the FA Cup to complete the double. It was a great time to be a United fan, and that success laid the foundations for two decades of dominance under Ferguson. The football the played for scintillating at times.
