5 Main Card Predictions For UFC 179

2. Phil Davis vs. Glover Teixeira

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lNXgHm2Of4k Weight Class: Light Heavyweight We all had such high hopes for Phil Davis (12€“2 (1)). He's got the look, and the personality. He's a personable guy, a fun guy to listen to when he's interviewed. He stands out. He could have been a dominant force at light heavyweight. Sadly, he just doesn't seem to rise to the occasion at times. It's like there are two Phil Davises, one that uses dominant wrestling to control fights, and one that forgets he has that dominant wrestling, and just sort of bounces around for a few rounds on the feet, finding himself outworked and outboxed. That's what happened against Anthony Johnson in April. It happened against Rashad Evans as well, where Davis really underperformed. Will it happen again here? Glover Teixeira (22€“3), meanwhile, is looking to bounce back from his first loss in years, in a title fight against Jon Jones this part April. Prior to that he hadn't lost since 2006. He's a solid striker, and able to go three rounds, though he will tire towards the end. Teixeira should rise to the occasion here. Look for him to give Davis his first UFC losing streak, via decision.
