5 Main Card Predictions For UFC 179

3. Fabio Maldonado vs. Hans Stringer

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DoSZQYAUOrA Weight Class: Light Heavyweight Fabio Maldonado (21-7) is 15th in the light heavyweight division, and if you discount his recent loss to Stipe Miocic, which was at heavyweight when he filled in for Junior Dos Santos on short notice, he's on a three fight win streak (in his natural weight class). Maldonado is the kind of guy the UFC loves: he steps up on short notice, will fight anyone, and stands and trades. He was on a three fight losing streak in 2011-2012, but the promotion refused to cut him after the heart he showed in those fights, and he made the most of getting another chance, defeating Roger Hollett, Joey Beltran, and Gian Villante in succession to secure his spot in the division. Hans Stringer (22-5) of the Netherlands won his UFC debut in March after securing a draw in the WSOF prior to that, but Maldonado is probably too rugged and too much too soon for the European - despite having roughly the same number of fights, the competition level the Brazilian has seen is much higher. Maldonado by TKO in the first two rounds.
