5 MMA Fights For Stephan Bonnar To Take In Bellator

5. Joey Beltran

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lVrTejx3bdA Don't expect this one to happen this year. Beltran somehow managed to get the nod to face Bellator light heavyweight champ Emanuel "The Hardcore Kid" Newton this fall in a title bout, which is downright bizarre - or would be if it weren't for the fact that under new CEO Scott Coker, Bellator is moving away from being a real sporting organization and becoming a spectacle destination relying on fighters who have washed out of other promotions. As such, Beltran, who didn't fare well in the UFC but was popular with fans due to his fight style, gets a shot - despite having earned it only by sending "The Janitor" Vladimir Matyushenko into retirement after a long, steady career. Matyushenko was a solid competitor in his day, but beating him this late in the game shouldn't earn anyone a title shot. Beyond that, Beltran has a losing record over the past several years, and if he were to upset Newton, it would make the promotion's light heavyweight title look like a joke. The problem is, the reigning light heavyweight tournament winner in Bellator is Rampage Jackson - and he doesn't want to fight Newton, who he shares a coach with. So Beltran gets the title shot. If he loses, Bonnar could face him next year, and that would be a great fight for fans - full of fireworks as both men would stand and punch away until someone went down. Of course. if Beltran wins all bets are off (and all hell breaks lose).
