1. Martin O'Neill
Martin O'Neill's appointment as manager of Sunderland in December last year was heralded as a great move, especially given the fact he guided Aston Villa to their first cup final in a decade in 2010, only losing out to Manchester United in the Carling Cup Final. He also cemented Villa as regular top-half finishers, and only narrowly missed out on Europa League Qualification in 2007-08 and 2009-10. Such were the heroics he performed at Villa Park, he was once considered a front-runner for the Liverpool job in the wake of the departure of Rafael Benitez. Yet he finds himself sitting in sixteenth place with Sunderland at the moment, a mere two points ahead of former club Villa in the relegation zone. O'Neill has picked up just one victory since September's 1-0 win over Wigan, which came against Fulham last weekend. But he suffered another disappointing setback at home this weekend to this seasons surprise package West Brom, who left the Stadium of Light 4-2 winners. Such is O'Neill's plight at the moment, his club today had to
deny reports that he had resigned from his post. Whilst he may still be in a job on Wearside, that may not be the case for too much longer unless results drastically improve, and soon.
