5 NFL Quarterbacks Who Will Improve In 2017 (And 5 Who Won't)
2. Down - Carson Palmer
Remember earlier, when we said Father Time is undefeated? While Tom Brady is actively engaged in bar room brawl with Father Time, Arizona Cardinals signal caller Carson Palmer seems to be succumbing to the rule. Palmer will be 38 in December, he's battled numerous injuries throughout his career, including an ACL tear in 2014, and the league is already rumbling with rumors that the Cardinals are looking for his replacement.
Last season, Palmer threw 26 touchdowns against 14 interceptions, which, while not awful, was way, way down from his 35:11 ratio in 2015. It makes sense that as he continues to struggle with injuries and age, those numbers will decrease and increase, respectively.
What's more, his receiving corp is looking pretty scant, with the only recognizable name being Larry Fitzgerald, who will be 34 when the 2017 season kicks off. Common sense dictates that the team will give much more of an offensive workload to running back David Johnson, who erupted for 2,100+ multi-purpose yards and 20 touchdowns last season. The Cardinals will simply hope that Palmer can stay efficient enough not to tank the offense.
