5 NFL Running Backs Who Will Improve In 2017 (And 5 Who Won't)

2. Down - Jamaal Charles

It could only be Jamaal Charles. Once considered the most dynamic, efficient running back in the game, a series of injuries have all but sunken Charles' stock. The man who currently holds the NFL record for most career yards per carry is hoping to revitalize his career on the Denver Broncos after two seasons of battling debilitating knee injuries. Unfortunately, the chances of Charles achieving a career resurgence in the Mile High City are slim.

Despite winning the Super Bowl in 2015, the Broncos are dealing with several serious issues, including a full scale rebuild of their offensive line. Last season, their o-line couldn't protect their quarterback or facilitate a working rushing attack. Meanwhile in Kansas City, Charles only played in 3 games last season, carrying the ball only 12 times for 40 yards. If he has any hope of rediscovering his old greatness, it would have to be on a team with a strong passing game and a decent o-line to protect him. The Broncos don't check either of those boxes, so the 2017 campaign is going to be a painful one for Jamaal Charles and his war torn body.
