5 NFL Running Backs Who Will Improve In 2017 (And 5 Who Won't)
3. Up - David Johnson
This entry may seem stupid, only because, how could David Johnson get better? The man registered 2,100 multi-purpose yards and 20 touchdowns last season. He wasn't just one of the league's best running backs in 2016, he was an bona fide MVP candidate. How can he improve on that? The answer to that question is, simply, more attention.
Despite his gaudy numbers last season, Johnson didn't even break 300+ rushing attempts. Expect that to change in 2017. It's no secret that Arizona Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer is on his way out, with the team already searching for his eventual heir. As Palmer enters the twilight of his career, it only makes sense that his All-Pro running back take up a bigger workload. Expect to see Palmer handing the ball off to Johnson much more often. Johnson will also be a main fixture of the passing game, which currently features an aging Larry Fitzgerald and some people it's hard to get excited about. The Cardinals are about to become the David Johnson show and no one should be surprised if he finds a way to top his 2016 numbers.
