2. Exciting Young Talent

One of the main criticisms of the Premier League is the hesitance of clubs to integrate youth players into the first team. If you’re excited by the prospect of watching a young player develop on the big stage, then Serie A is the league for you. Players like Sergej Milinković-Savić and Gianluigi Donnarumma have gained widespread acclaim for their performances in spite of their youth but there are also many exciting talents who have gone under the radar in the UK media.

There are a number of highly-rated players who have already been a part of the Italy youth set-up who are looking to make their mark on the league during this campaign. Juventus duo Federico Bernardeschi and Daniele Rugani won plenty of praise for their exploits at youth level but, with them both now being 24, there is hope that this will be the season they come of age and announce themselves on the world stage.

There have also been a number of transfers that will pique the attention of fans with an avid interest in developing players (or those who play a lot of Football Manager). One notable transfer was that of promising French goalkeeper, Alban Lafont. He has joined Fiorentina from Toulouse and, in many ways, has a story that is similar to that of AC Milan’s Donnarumma – he was handed his first team debut at just 17 and quickly rose to become a household name in France. There is great excitement amongst fans in Florence that he can become a pivotal part of La Viola’s push towards the Europa League spots this season.
