5 Reasons Why Andy Carroll’s Return Would Be Good For Newcastle (And 5 Why It Wouldn’t)
... And The Negatives...
5. Injury Concerns
One of the reasons that West Ham felt the need to sign Diafra Sakho and Enner Valencia last summer was because Carroll struggled to stay healthy during his first season after signing permanently with the club - and these concerns continued last year. In fact, it was up in the air as to whether West Ham would even make Carroll's loan deal permanent the summer they signed the forward given that he missed December and January with an Achilles injury. While commitment is in ample supply and Carroll is happy to put himself in the line of fire, Newcastle fans need to acknowledge that the 6ft 4in centre-forward is going to take bumps and scrapes given the way he plays. Can Newcastle afford to spend £10 million on a man who has only managed 27 Premier League appearances in the past two seasons?
