On Louis Van Gaals watch, Manchester United have spent a quarter of a billion pounds on rejigging the team. And yet, is it really any better than the dispirited rabble David Moyes let to seventh place? It's certainly nowhere near as good as the Ferguson's final title winning team. Whether or not its the Dutchman or the clubs Chief Exec Ed Woodward who does the deals, Van Gaal surely has final say, and under his watch United broke the British transfer record to sign Angel Di Maria - a game-changing flair player who was jettisoned after just one season by a distrusting manager. This summers big name signing Memphis Depay appears to be following a similar career path to the Argentine. The January transfer window is still open, and even though United havent made any moves yet (aside from recalling Januzaj from his unhappy loan spell at Dortmund) would you you trust Van Gaal to sign off of any new incoming moves? On current evidence, the answer must surely be no.
