5 Sports Stars Who Got Into Hot Water Over Twitter

1. Ashley Cole

Come on, who else did you think it was going to be? Yes, Ashley Cole found himself embroiled in one of the most sensational stories of the year, after a foul-mouthed tweet (aimed at the governing body of the sport that he plays for a living no less), landed the Chelsea and England star in some seriously hot water. After the panel investigating the John Terry racial abuse case casted doubts over the validity of Cole€™s evidence, the left-back calmly and eloquently aired his grievances with the FA €“ by labelling them a €œbunch of t***s€ over Twitter. €œHahahahaa, well done #fa I lied did I, #BUNCHOFT***S€. Of course, the tweet was pounced upon by the media within minutes of being sent, and Cole found himself issuing an €˜unreserved apology€™. His statement read: "I was really upset and tweeted my feelings in the heat of the moment. I apologise unreservedly for my comment about the FA." The defender escaped a ban after apologising personally to FA chairman David Bernstein, but did not escape a £90,000 fine from the FA for making a comment that was improper and/or brought the game into disrepute. So there you have it. Are there any other sports stars that have tweeted themselves into a sticky situation that I have missed? Sound off in the comments below!
