It's 115lbs or bust for the ex-champ

Joanna Jedrzejczyk is forgetting flyweight for now. The former Joanna Champion can no longer rightfully be called by that nickname, but she reminded fans on Saturday night in Calgary at UFC on Fox 30 why she held the strawweight title for so long. For the better part of three rounds she was a step ahead of the 'Tiny Tornado' Tecia Torres. While Torres lured the ex-champ into more of a clinch game than anticipated, Jedrzejczyk got the better of Torres in the striking department no matter where the fight carried out. In the clinch, in the open, against the cage, it didn't matter. Joanna clearly had the better precision and output, and thanks to her superb takedown defense she was able to stay on her feet, negating her opponent's game plan.

Prior to UFC on FOX 30 there'd been a fair amount of talk about Joanna heading north to the newly-arrived flyweight division. Jedrzejczyk admitted as much post-fight on Saturday. However, after speaking with Dana White, she'd decided to stick around strawweight and work for another shot at the title, despite having lost to Rose Namajunas on two consecutive occasions.

It's an interesting parallel to the situation Jose Aldo is in. Both seem obsessed with reclaiming their titles rather than trying out a new division. How that works out remains to be seen. But for now, Jedrzejczyk has re-established herself at 115lbs.
