5 Things Manchester United Must Do In The Summer

Manchester United are falling quicker than Piers Morgan's ratings. They are miles from where they want to be in the league, their players are ageing and under-performing and most of all, they have a delusional manager who is cracking with the sheer weight of being manager and successor of one of the game's greatest, Sir Alex Ferguson. 'The Chosen One' has had his part in the almighty falling of United, but not all the blame can be put on him. The players, once ridden with silverware every season, look jagged and cumbersome. Their transfer policy has been nothing short of abysmal and the same can go for their results. It all leads to July 1st, where the transfer window opens for its brief spell. The up and coming summer transfer window could be and has to be the biggest in United's modern era, to stop them falling further behind from what they once were. Here is my list of five things United have to do or face going down a dark path...

5. Change Managers

Sir Alex said in his leaving speech that the fans must 'stand by their new manager'. But not even a season into his job, Moyes has faced backlash from the players, the fans and the media. The odd loss at the start of the campaign was accepted and mostly due to Moyes's inexperience of being the main man at a big club. But loss after loss, including an incredible eight defeats in the league so far, has pushed the fans to melting point. I wouldn't quite say it is as bad as Rafa Benitez's time at Chelsea, but it could be soon as the fans have come to expect wins, not losses. They expect the team to perform, not failing to turn up. They expect to win major silverware - and the Community Shield doesn't hit the mark. At this point, fans want someone with more experience at top level clubs rather than a man whose only similar attribute he had to Sir Alex was the same nationality. Moyes is not a bad manager at all... but manager of the great United? They desperately need a wise head who knows the game at the highest level. The former Everton man had a good eleven-year spell there but he accomplished nothing. The highest they finished was a creditable 4th ten years ago. He is clearly out of his depth and has been thrown in the deep zone with no armbands. A manger with far more experience at top level is needed. Whether that will happen or not remains to be seen, but unfortunately for some, United's higher order are not the axe-wielding type unlike at Chelsea.
