Jon Jones has almost cleaned out the light heavyweight division in the UFC. Hes been the most dominant light heavyweight champ in UFC history, but there are still a few compelling names out there that get us excited to see Jones step into the octagon. Could he go up a weight class? Could someone come up to face him? Who is left at 205 pounds that we really want to see get in the cage with Jones? Lets take a look at the top 5 candidates!
5. The Spider - Anderson Silva
If this list was being written a year or two ago, Silva would be the number one choice. My how things have changed. Silva's since lost his belt, broken his leg, and is in the midst of rehab and not expected to make his way to the octagon til early 2015. All that said, this would be a stellar fight for the fans. Remember when Silva came up to fight Stephan Bonnar last minute in 2012 at UFC 153? That wasn't exactly a stellar match on paper. It was Bonnar coming out of retirement essentially to save a card, and Silva taking a fight short notice at a higher weight class to do the UFC a favour. It was an interesting match in the ring though, at least briefly. Bonnar got Silva up against the fence. Bonnar looked like he might have a chance. Then Bonnar took a knee to the solar plexus that left him barely able to breathe. It was a stunning finish that at least made up for the mismatch. You didn't feel entirely cheated, thanks to that finish. Now picture Anderson Silva fighting at 205 against someone with a skill set equal to his own - Jones. Intrigued?
