6 Players That Have To Start For Spurs

5. Kyle Walker

Seems another obvious one, but Walker has certainly got his critics. Admittedly, he sometimes lacks mental focus, leading to match-changing blunders. His pin-point accurate assist to Wayne Rooney in the draw against United last week is a pretty good example. But Walker's strengths as a right-back far outweigh the bad in his game. As a pure athlete, he's the best in the team. Even after two seasons as a regular starter, his explosive speed is still something to behold and his chemistry with Aaron Lennon makes a well-worked attack from our right flank one of the most exciting sights in the league. It's also important to remember that Walker's still relatively young at 23. He's a player that continues to develop in both attack and defence. Compared to last year, where Walker noticeably found it difficult adjusting to the new manager's system and had a poor campaign by his own admission, he has made a marked improvement and become one of the team's most consistent performers. Having signed a long-term contract with the club in October, Walker will only continue to evolve as a player, and could potentially grow into a world-class right-back.
