With a reported market value of £40 million, Arturo Vidal would be viewed as a 'marquee signing' should Manchester United get their man - and they haven't had enough of those recently. Last season, under David Moyes, United were linked with a series of top names, such as Cesc Fabregas, Leighton Baines, Robert Lewandowski and Toni Kroos. They failed to sign either of them and last summer's transfer window can only be described as a disaster. United's failure to land top targets contributed in part to their dramatic slump under Moyes, with the club crashing to a seventh place finish and failing to qualify for Europe. The same mistakes cannot be made twice. If the Red Devils are to re-assert themselves as England's dominant team, they have to be signing players like Arturo Vidal. Rivals Arsenal and Chelsea have strengthened considerably this summer, signing world class players in the form of Alexis Sanchez and Diego Costa, respectively, and United must follow suit or fall further behind. With Vidal and Ander Herrera in United's starting XI, they would instantly be a better team that they were last season, and with the further additions of a new centre-half and perhaps a winger, you would have to back them to be challenging for the Premier League title come next May.
