6 Reasons Why Man Utd Are Struggling Under David Moyes
4. Injuries
Manchester United have struggled this season with injuries, most notably key front men Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie, who have spent extended periods on the sidelines. Having on of the two out is not ideal, but when two of the team's best players are out at the same time, it leaves them struggling for goals and creativity. Robin van Persie had been the Premier League top goal scorer last season and United's best player in their title winning campaign, but has only managed to start 14 out of United's 26 league games this term. Rooney had got off to the season in fine form, seemingly rejuvenated under new manager Moyes, but he has only started 19 league games. With the other two strikers, Javier Hernandez and Danny Welbeck, also having time on the sidelines, United have often been left short up front. Such has been there struggle at the back with injuries, only Patrice Evra has started more than 18 league games. United have not been able to establish a solid, consistent back four. Rio Ferdinand, who had a solid 2012/13 season, has only been to start 7 league games. Things haven't been much better in midfield, with new signing Marouane Fellaini currently sidelined with a back problem, and wingers Nani and Ashley Young have also had their own issues, as well as key man Michael Carrick, amongst others.
