6 Things Man Utd Fans Need To Know About Marcos Rojo

3. United Are Paying A Pretty Penny For His Services

Despite the fact Marcos Rojo has just enjoyed a highly-successful World Cup tournament, and the fact he is obviously a highly-gifted defender, eyebrows have been raised over the size of the fee Manchester United are paying for his services. United have paid Sporting Lisbon £16 million for Rojo, of which £8 million they will get immediately, with further instalments of £4 million being paid on 1 December this year and 1 July, 2015. In addition to this, the Red Devils have also agreed to pay Nani's £4.8 million wages for the duration of his season-loan loan spell at Sporting as part of the deal to bring Rojo to Old Trafford, taking the total outlay past the £20 million barrier. A hefty sum perhaps for a 24-year-old who has never played in the Premier League before. This isn't the first time this summer United are perceived to have paid over the odds on a defender. In June, they signed Southampton left-back Luke Shaw for £27 million, making him one of the world's most expensive teenagers and the world's fourth-most expensive defender.
