6 Things We Learned From Newcastle U21s v Blackburn
3. Ivan Toney Was The Best Player On The Pitch
I'm not labelling the former Northampton striker a superstar just yet but Ivan Toney looked the best player during Newcastle's 1-1 draw with Blackburn Rovers. He constantly harassed Simon Eastwood's goal and had a number of snapshot strikes stopped by the Blackburn keeper. His general hold up play, confidence and physical presence was unrivalled by anyone else on the pitch and it's clear why the Magpies have decided to bring the striker to Tyneside. The 19-year-old has a lot of work to do but Steve McClaren will have been impressed with the striker's contribution. Many fans made sure they grabbed Toney's autograph and photo before he left the ground.
