Age: 19 Position: Defender Nationality: English Due to an influx of defensive injuries, Newcastle-born Jamie Sterry was called up to the senior squad for their fixture against Manchester United in March. He was not included in John Carver's final matchday squad, but the highly-rated defender spent valuable time training with the first team and was named on the bench for an away fixture against Liverpool the following month. Sterry has already been so close to making his first-team debut and will be desperate to make an appearance at St James' Park this season.
