7 Footballers To Play For Both NUFC And Leicester City
7. Steve Howey
Newcastle United: 1989-2000 League Appearances: 191 League Goals: 6 Leicester City: 2003-04 League Appearances: 13 League Goals: 1 Sunderland-born Steve Howey came up through the youth ranks at Newcastle United and made 191 league appearances for the Magpies as a centre-back, scoring six times. A member of Kevin Keegan's famous "Entertainers", Howey remained at the club until 2000 - although he suffered from many injury problems before leaving for Manchester City. Following three years at Maine Road, Howey was snapped up by Leicester City - and he appeared for them 13 times in the league, netting once. The four-cap England international then went on to represent Bolton Wanderers, New England Revolution and Hartlepool United. He is still much-loved in the North East and regularly co-presents "Total Sport" radio phone-in on BBC Newcastle.
